Dagmar Rohm (b. 1969, AT)
Dagmar Rohm works within a transdisciplinary practice that encompasses contemporary painting and conceptual inquiry. Based on a background in the performing arts, her focus shifted toward the visual arts. Following study cycles under Christian Ludwig Attersee at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, she continued her painterly and theoretical training at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 2019 onward, including three semesters in the class of Daniel Richter.
The trajectories of her biography inform the structural and conceptual framework of her oeuvre. Within her thematic cycles, she utilizes the figures of Greek Mythology as a framework to deconstruct traditional role models.
By subverting classical iconographies and intersecting them with her natures series - which operates with inverted contrasts - she examines the friction between organic structures, societal entanglements, and institutional constraints. This development continues in her current series, Taste it, which dissects the dynamics of human attachment in its broadest sense.
