Daniel Ferstl (born 1982, AT)
Daniel Ferstl is a contemporary artist based in Vienna. After studying Japanese Studies and German Studies at the University of Vienna, he studied painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Professor Christian Ludwig Attersee, graduating in 2008.
Daniel’s practice explores the visual language of pop culture and social media, examining consumerism, fandom and contemporary trends. Using textiles, velvet, wool and intricate hand-sewn details, he creates large-scale collages that transform familiar cultural references into tactile, layered compositions.
His work has been exhibited in Austria, France, Japan, Spain, and the UK. His works are in both private and public collections, including the Vienna Museum (MUSA), and the Collection Famille Servais in Brussels.
