CT Arts’ Discover Art Tours nurture appreciation and collecting of contemporary art. The tour program is carefully put-together and led by CT Arts Art Adviser to make sure participants get to see some of the most worth-visited gallery shows each month in HK.
1) MONA HATOUM “REMAINS OF THE DAY” @White Cube
British-Palestinian female artist, Mona Hatoum, is considered as one of the most important artists in her generation. She is known for creating works that explore the conflicts and contradictions of our world, as well as create a sense of profound unease through a process of visual and material seduction.
2) CONSTRUCTING MYTHOLOGIES @Edouard Malingue Gallery
Exploring the social construction of certain mythologies in Cambodia, China, Myanmar and Vietnam.
3) MR. “PEOPLE MISUNDERSTAND ME AND THE CONTENTS OF MY PAINTINGS. THEY JUST THINK THEY ARE NOSTALGIC, CUTE, AND LOOK LIKE JAPANESE ANIME. THAT MAY BE TRUE, BUT REALLY, I PAINT DAILY IN ORDER TO ESCAPE THE DEVIL THAT HAUNTS MY SOUL. THE SAID DEVIL ALSO RESIDES IN MY BLOOD, AND I CANNOT ESCAPE FROM IT NO MATTER HOW I WISH. SO I PAINT IN RESIGNATION.”
The 49-year old Japanese artist, Mr., has been credited as one of the leading artists from Takashi Murakami’s Superflat movement.
